Construction began on Phase 1 November 2003
Founders Dick and Paul, along with friends and family, began with demo in November 2003. From November through April the following year they would travel to Houghton to put in a solid weeks work while steps progressed locally throughout that time. Both were involved with each detail in what would become the original bar, today known as the brewery side. All of the east side bar area, as well as nearly all of the basement went through a complete renovation to build out new bathrooms, a brewery, a bar, and a large cooler.
Summer 2005 Expansion
In the summer of 2005, planned expansion began with demo of the store previously next door. At this point the family and friends returned to once more begin removing the coal dust encrusted interior walls as well as some of the exterior walls. The brick was thoroughly caked over with coal dust, which as demo continued, fell and became one with our crew. After a good pressure washing, construction began.
The space introduced a new idea of comfort for the brewery bar space with the addition of a fire place and couches to sit back on. Over the years these couches were a popular spot. During covid this space went through some changes.
Most importantly though, we built a second, considerably larger, bar for folks to sit at in comfort and order a favorite pint.
South Range Production Opens, 2007

2006 Further Additions to Houghton
Late in summer of 2006 we began the rather significant undertaking of adding to our building in the form of a large concrete and steel deck.
